Nestled in the heart of unique and vibrant Amsterdam, we bring you Lights! Camera! Amsterdam, a two- week program that will introduce you to the world of filmmaking. A collaboration between Amsterdam Film School, NAVB Amsterdam and BrainGain Academy, Lights! Camera! Amsterdam covers the basics of fiction and documentary filmmaking. It is taught entirely in English and gives students the chance to network, develop their artistic vision and produce two short films. With high quality equipment and studios, instructors who are celebrated industry professionals and an international cohort with diverse voices and narratives, we endeavour to give you two weeks in the creative playground of your dreams.

Founded in 2014, the Amsterdam Film School (AFS) is a private, independent film school with a faculty of renowned industry professionals. In collaboration with NAVB, AFS boasts a variety of film courses in camera acting, fiction and documentary directing for beginner and seasoned filmmakers alike.
The school has six studios equipped with the most modern audiovisual equipment and state-of-the-art computer systems to edit films. Teachers give direct and personalized feedback in intimate class sizes and settings, excellent for anyone trying to develop or rework their artistic voice.
BrainGain is a unique marketplace for global higher education that connects students to diverse learning opportunities. Parents and students that engage with BrainGain content, tools and programs get tailored customizable services based on a deep understanding of backgrounds, interests, goals and aspirations. BrainGain Magazine covers the content. BrainGain Recruiter and BrainGain Labs deal with tools, and BrainGain Academy conducts the programs.
For the past five years, we have collaborated with Knowledge@Wharton High School to provide entrepreneurship and finance programs at Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. We also recently launched a robotics program in collaboration with Arizona State University. All three programs cater to high school students, and take place in the summer. We are excited to launch many more programs for 18+ participants.
We are accepting applications on a rolling basis. Those interested in participating must submit their application online.
Eligibility: All applicants must be 18 years or older and proficient in English. They must also provide proof of successfully completing their secondary education (high school). Attaching a C.V. or portfolio is optional.

Since Amsterdam Film School is a private institution, it does not offer scholarships.
The program will take place between November 10 and November 24.
Yes. This is possible without extra costs. We have cameras, light, sound and accessories available. This is based on availability and you can borrow a maximum of a few days.
Students from around the world can apply to the program. Currently, sessions include 12 students each.
